This site is a tribute to Aparichit, the Hindi version of S. Shankar's Tamil film Anniyan (2005). It rebuilds, for a web browser, the website imagined in the film's Hindi trailer. It judges no one.

Chapter I · अध्याय १
The Film
Anniyan, 'the stranger', is a Tamil psychological thriller written and directed by S. Shankar and produced by V. Ravichandran for Oscar Films. It was released in 2005, dubbed into Telugu as Aparichithudu, and reached Hindi audiences as Aparichit on 19 May 2006.
अन्नियन, यानी 'अजनबी', एस. शंकर द्वारा लिखित और निर्देशित एक तमिल मनोवैज्ञानिक थ्रिलर है, जिसे वी. रविचंद्रन ने ऑस्कर फ़िल्म्स के लिए बनाया। यह 2005 में प्रदर्शित हुई, तेलुगु में अपरिचितुडु नाम से डब हुई, और 19 मई 2006 को अपरिचित नाम से हिंदी दर्शकों तक पहुँची।
Vikram plays the lead, with Sadha, Prakash Raj, Vivek, Nedumudi Venu and Nassar. The music is by Harris Jayaraj.
मुख्य भूमिका में विक्रम हैं, साथ में सदा, प्रकाश राज, विवेक, नेडुमुडी वेणु और नासर। संगीत हैरिस जयराज का है।
It won the National Film Award for Best Special Effects, and at the Filmfare Awards South it took Best Film, Best Director and Best Actor.

Three Faces
Ambi is a lawyer in Chennai who keeps every rule, and cannot bear that no one else does. As a boy he watched his little sister die in an accident caused by civic negligence. No one was ever held to account.
अम्बी चेन्नई का एक वकील है जो हर नियम का पालन करता है, और यह सह नहीं पाता कि कोई और नहीं करता। बचपन में उसने अपनी छोटी बहन को सरकारी लापरवाही से हुई दुर्घटना में मरते देखा। किसी को कभी जवाबदेह नहीं ठहराया गया।
His mind splits in three: Ambi, whose complaints nobody reads; Remo, the charming model he could never be; and Anniyan, the stranger who punishes those the law lets go.

The Law of the Puranas
Anniyan does not simply kill. He punishes each offender with the torment the Garuda Purana prescribes for that sin in Naraka, the realm of Yama.
अन्नियन सिर्फ़ मारता नहीं। वह हर अपराधी को वही यातना देता है जो गरुड़ पुराण यमलोक के नरक में उस पाप के लिए बताता है।
The Garuda Purana names twenty-eight such hells, from the boiling oil of Kumbhipaka to the needles of Suchimukha. Vidura, counselling a sleepless king in the Mahabharata, names the faults that lead there.
गरुड़ पुराण ऐसे अट्ठाईस नरकों का वर्णन करता है, कुम्भीपाक के खौलते तेल से लेकर सूचीमुख की सुइयों तक। महाभारत में निद्राहीन राजा को सलाह देते हुए विदुर उन दोषों के नाम बताते हैं जो वहाँ तक ले जाते हैं।

Chapter IV · अध्याय ४
The Website
In the trailer, a man sits at an old computer late at night, dials in, and types an address into the browser. He is pulled through the wire into a dark site where Yama rides a black buffalo.
ट्रेलर में एक आदमी देर रात पुराने कंप्यूटर पर बैठा है, डायल करता है और ब्राउज़र में एक पता टाइप करता है। वह तार के रास्ते एक अँधेरी साइट में खिंच जाता है, जहाँ यमराज काले भैंसे पर सवार हैं।
The site names six kinds of sinners, then questions him in a small TALK BOX: the fault, the culprit's name, age, build, the car and its number. A hit-and-run is rebuilt line by line, and the Unknown promises that the guilty will be punished as the Puranas say.
साइट छह तरह के पापियों के नाम लेती है, फिर एक छोटे टॉक बॉक्स में उससे सवाल करती है: दोष, दोषी का नाम, उम्र, शरीर, गाड़ी और उसका नम्बर। एक हिट-एंड-रन पंक्ति दर पंक्ति खुलता है, और अपरिचित वचन देता है कि दोषी को पुराणों के अनुसार दंड मिलेगा।
